Our History

In the early part of 1980, the Fire Departments in the Northwest area of Franklin County met to discuss the growing problem of arson fires in their communities. After much discussion, it was decided to join forces to combat this ever growing problem.

The purpose in forming this fire investigation Task Force was to provide all of the member communities with a group of experienced fire investigators who, while working together, could investigate serious fires and determine the cause and origin.

In 1983, the Task Force was directed to use the same approach towards the Hazardous Materials problem.

In 1994, the Task Force was expanded to cover the areas of safety, rescue, and training with the goal of standardizing training and better utilization of member fire department resources.

NAS-T is responsible for service to 17 separate political subdivisions.  The Team covers a combined area of more than 149 square miles, with a population of more than 182,000.

Today, the Task Force includes fire departments from Northwest Franklin County, Ohio and Southern Delaware County, Ohio.
